Begin with Hadimba Temple
Hadimba, also written Hidimba, is the temple in the Dhungri cedar forest. Its woodwork and forest setting make it a thoughtful first stop. Incredible India dates the temple to 1553.
Make space for a quiet visit rather than rushing through for a photograph. Follow the signs and the temple team’s guidance on footwear, photography and access.
Continue into Old Manali
Manu Temple is in the old part of Manali. Choose it as your second stop if you would like another temple visit; otherwise leave the afternoon for a meal and a wander at your own pace.
Ask locally about the most suitable approach for your group. This guide does not assume a step-free route or a particular walking time from Asha Cottage. If anyone finds slopes or steps difficult, discuss transport and access before setting off.
Our suggested rhythm
Keep the day to a few stops. A simple sequence is Hadimba Temple, a meal, then Old Manali and an optional Manu Temple visit. Reverse the order if local traffic or your plans make that more comfortable.
- Have breakfast before leaving and carry water.
- Choose a lunch stop when you are ready, without building the day around an unverified opening time.
- Keep a layer with you and leave room to return early if the weather changes.
- Ask us about homestyle meals at the cottage when planning your return. Please confirm the menu and service arrangements directly.
Good to know before you go
This is an editorial day idea, not a guided tour or an included booking package. Opening hours, local access and transport should be checked for your visit. Asha Cottage is in the Log Huts Area of Old Manali; ask us for the current approach to the property and help choosing your first stop.
A couple of useful answers
Can I do this without a full-day taxi?
You can plan a local outing with individual stops rather than a full-day excursion. Whether walking or short vehicle journeys suit you depends on your starting point, mobility and the weather. Confirm the route locally.
Is a temple visit included with my room?
No tour or transport is included by this guide. It is a suggestion for planning your own day; ask the property separately about any help you need.
